Joe and Ester Leibowitz opened the business downtown in October 1912. As retail traveled east, so did the store. It was one of the last to leave the Downtown shopping district in the 1980s, relocating to 3831 Frederick Blvd, in East Ridge Village.
The couple’s son, the late Paul Leibowitz, ran the business until selling it to Marshall Wright . Mr. Wright had begun working for the menswear shop almost 50 years ago, right after college.
Mr. Antle, the business’ new sole owner, started his career at Mr. Hobbs Formal Wear in St. Joseph from 1977 to 1981. He came to the Leibowitz store in the mid 1990s. He is the fourth owner in the business’ long history.
Leibowitz’s has been providing fine menswear to the St. Joseph area for nearly 100 years. From tailored suits, ties, hats and shoes, Leibowitz has a variety of products for men with exclusive lines that are only available at the St. Joseph store.
Generations of men have been clothed at Leibowitz.
